Good news everyone! Our on-ground team in South America has managed to secure the most coveted little green frog in the travel industry: a Rainforest Alliance Certification. For those that don’t know, it looks like this:
Rainforest Alliance is a not-for-profit organisation that certifies responsible tour operators. The ones doing the right thing. You have to be able to demonstrate that you’re minimising your environment impact, supporting your local staff and preserving local communities and cultures. And we’ve renewed ours yet again. The physical audit was an intensive two-day process, covering our Lima and Cusco offices. As well as checking out our offices, looking over our documentation and interviewing our staff and managers, the auditor also joined one of our Intrepid groups for their tour of the Sacred Valley in Cusco. This included a visit to the community of Qorqor, where a lot of our groups stop for a delicious home cooked lunch and some insights into local Quechua culture.
Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and focuses on sustaining livelihoods by transforming the way people do business. Their ultimate aim is to see people and planet prosper together. We’re pretty proud to get their froggy tick of approval.
