Until I write an article about our September trip to the Oregon Beach, here are a few tips: enjoy a late lunch/early dinner at Local Ocean in Newport followed by watching the seals playing around in the harbor. If you’re looking for a good Mexican restaurant, Fresh Mexican in Waldport is the place. Breakfast and dinner are equally good at the Drift Inn, Yachats. And I came home with two packable Scala sun hats (sort of like this one but cuter) for an upcoming adventure. But more on that in a week or two.
Always Hungry update: This week’s NSV (non-scale victory) has been making the eating plan work while on the road. I discovered that most restaurants are happy to substitute blueberries (a slow carb on the plan) at breakfast. And asking for beans on the side at dinner satisfies the slow carb requirement, too. At one point this week, Alan looked at my huevos rancheros breakfast (without the tortillas) and said, “Is that really on your meal plan? You say it meets the ratios of fat, protein and carbs, but this looks too good to be a diet meal.” And that’s the point. This is a way of life, not a diet. Thanks for letting me stay accountable by reporting my progress here. If you have questions, send me an email.
