News for the Week

From Donna:

Oh man, the weather has been gorgeous in Montana. And it’s predicted to continue like this for a week or so. What would you do—sit behind a computer most of the day or get out and explore? Hey, we’re not getting any younger so I vote for exploring! Alan and I are taking advantage of the beautiful weather next week to go on a couple of adventures. Stay tuned!

Blodgett Canyon is the Bitterroot Valley’s answer to Yosemite Valley.

With sunny skies and comfortable temperatures, yes we did get in our weekly hike. Alan and I hiked four-miles-round-trip on the Blodgett Canyon Trail one morning before breakfast. A local favorite, the trail offers dramatic rock cliffs, a raging creek (this time of year) and plenty of wildflowers. The portion of the trail that we traveled included minimal elevation gain but lots of rocks on the trail so be careful if you go. Twisting an ankle wouldn’t be fun, which is why I use hiking poles.

I officially started Phase 1 of the Always Hungry meal plan. So far, the meals are tasty, but time consuming to prepare. However I can’t believe how much energy I have, which is a result of increasing the good fats in my diet while eliminating processed food, gluten and sugar. Thanks for letting me stay accountable by reporting my progress here. If you have questions, send me an email.
