Well, as Alan and Donna make their way to their next amazing adventure, I’m here sweltering in the Madrid heat. Despite the hot weather, I really do love Madrid in summertime because the city slows down from its normally ultra-hectic pace. So many people go on vacation this time of year that the city, although not empty thanks to the many tourists, is noticeably more relaxed, almost quiet. It makes exploring Madrid much more enjoyable and I like to use the long days to my advantage. Recently, we were stolling around the beautiful Capricho park, which was almost empty on a Saturday morning. Also, we use our evening walks as great opportunities to try out new tapas bars that seem to be popping up every day. How do you spend your summer days at home?

We haven’t forgotten July’s European cruise port theme. If you’re planning a cruise (or road trip) in Norway, be sure to read Boomer travel writers, Larissa and Michael Milne, as they share thoughts on visiting Norway’s Fjordland with the Philadelphia Inquirer.
