It’s a sad but well-known fact that you can’t buy much for a single pound coin, euro or dollar bill these days. Particularly when living in places like Australia, Europe or the USA. But we often forget there are still plenty of countries where this small sum of money goes a long way.
Admittedly, it’ll stretch further on continents like Asia and Africa, than it will in Europe. For example, in Egypt you can sit down to a hearty plate of koshary (a dish of pasta, rice, lentils, garbanzo beans and fried onions, topped with a tomato sauce). Or, in Denmark you can crunch your way through four juicy green apple. Which would you choose?
With that said, here’s a whole list of other weird and wonderful things you can buy around the world for £1, €1 or $1…
As it turns out there’s an awful lot you can buy for a pound, euro and dollar in this big wide world. And, it’s also worth saying that until 16.02.2018 we’re giving customers in the UK, Europe and South Africa the chance to save a spot on any Intrepid trip with just £1, €1, 1CHF or R25. Meaning you could be spotting wildlife in Costa Rica or climbing to Everest Base Camp for as little as a £1, €1, 1CHF or R25 deposit! T&Cs apply.
