Every couple needs a romantic getaway once in a while, whether it’s celebrity couples or us regular folks. We’ve rounded up some romantic resorts and locales frequented by famous couples to inspire your romantic getaways.
Beyoncé and Jay Z in Hawaii
Beyoncé and Jay Z snuck off to Hawaii in June 2016 where they donned leis, rode bikes, and snapped selfies while smooching in the surf. Bey wore a floral patterned one piece with sexy side cutouts and lemon jewelry (as a nod to her Lemonade album). The musical pair has previously vacationed at the Dominican Republic’s Casa de Campo Resort, which is also a favorite of the Kardashians and Justin Bieber.
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello in Bora Bora
Sofia and Joe showed that they’re clearly island lovers as they not only honeymooned at Parrot Cay at Turks & Caicos, but they rang in 2017 in Bora Bora. Blue water and beachy bungalows, along with snapping shots of their significant other, seem to be a favorite of these lovebirds.
Barack and Michelle Obama in the British Virgin Islands
In their first post-presidency vacation, the Obamas headed to Richard Branson’s Necker Island where the former President learned how to kitesurf (we’re not kidding) as part of a friendly competition with Branson. According to Branson’s blog, Barack had been barred by his security detail from surfing during his time in office and was eager to get back to enjoying watersports. Who won the friendly competition? Let’s just say that Obama’s time in office didn’t diminish his skills.
When he wasn’t hitting the water, we imagine that Barack and Michelle were enjoying all the island’s amenities from beachside dining to the lagoon-style pool to the Great House, with its panoramic views of the Caribbean, Atlantic and neighboring islands.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen may have posed for the magazine in Bora Bora, a hot spot for romantic celebrity getaways, but she and her husband, crooner John Legend, kicked off 2017 with a trip to St. Barth. Daughter Luna and Teigen’s mom joined the duo, allowing for the pair to have some romantic alone time during their trip.
Elle Macpherson and Jeffrey Soffer in Fiji
Elle Macpherson married husband Jeffrey Soffer at Fiji’s Laucala Island Resort in 2013. Boasting 3,500 private acres and only 25 traditional Fijian bungalows, the resort is perfect for an intimate wedding or a romantic getaway a deux. If swimming in the 80-foot-long glass cube pool, set inside the main lagoon pool, is a little too public for your liking, head back to your suite for a dip in your own private plunge pool.
